Monsoon Trends 2013

Ok so it’s high time to start thinking about getting prepped for Monsoon. Stripes are on to get you inspired, whether sliced vertically or horizontally, season is all about bold combinations. Fiery red is a mood elevator. It can boost confidence and make you feel more in control. While it's not for the shy, the sharp-edged colour will please those drawn to making a strong statement. This season is all about bright colours, edgy graphics. All colours from saffron to blue and beige and even black and white, but used in a very different style, are in vogue. If your complexion is fair bluer reds are for you, while spicier orange-reds will flatter darker skin.

The monochromatic look does not only make you look slimmer but also spot on trend. One of the easiest looks to put together for the rainy season, single-tone dresses are ideal for both day and night. Dump your basic jeans for coloured jeans and shorts and couple them up with florals or basic t shirts.

Monsoon is all about florals, whether big and bold or let them be small. The more prints the better. If you’re not that confident types, rock a full on printed dress or mix and match a top and skirt.

How can we forget the simple hues of white and black? Black-and-white checks are big news this season, and the bigger and bolder the motif, the better. Crisp white over sized shirts this season are making a run. Strong lines are hot property for season. Put them on skinny trousers, and pair them with an equally sharp line up top

Frills work best on cute cocktails or skirts. Overalls, tie dyed separates, and cropped blouses can help you get the look without being too obvious. Leather this season, well why not. The sturdy fabric has been running from fall to enter into our monsoon lexicon, thanks to lighter weights, brighter colors, and skin baring cut outs. To wear this well, go for perforated or sliced leather looks, or strapless tops that allow for a bit of ventilation

Monsoon season this year is also about lots of accessories. Gladiator heels are back, but they’re more audacious. Most versions lace up to your ankles–some go up to your thigh. Mix and match them with a short hem to truly let them shine. Chic totes are in big time, so let your purses ride in them. Low-heeled pointy shoes to match your ladylike bag makes for a one-way ticket to spring chic. You can accessorize your outfit with some chunky jewellery or a printed scarf. You can complete the classic look with wedges or block heels or keep it simple with a pair of flats.
