Is Art there for Real or all hype

Art of any nature is all about creativity and creativity is about talent and that has to be for real. Talent has to be in born which, further can be nurtured but it cannot be infused in someone and hence it has to be for real.

Though, today’s world of competition, materialistic gains and the age of internet has changed the scenario a little bit. Today accreditation, felicitation and recognition come easy if you can prove your talent in your Art form. Even Art as in painters don’t have wait till they die to achieve the recognition, their art is easily circulated on the internet and people get to approve or disapprove, make or break and artist. Even upcoming singers and bands who want to experiment with their music come out with their recorded music and create awareness by circulating it by hand or over the net, if their music is liked and appreciated they further get chances to play at shows and then record companies pick them up and give them an initial break.

All of this is good and encouraging, the internet helps them circulate their art form and create awareness through which the recognition comes. But then in this world of competition and materialistic gain things turn slightly ugly. The companies and the media that facilitate and appreciate an artist suddenly create hype about the potential and the talent of the artist. This further adds pressure on the artist to come out with better product of his art. The artists need to justify the faith put in him sometimes leads to low quality art being produced by the artist which leads to the failure of that artist. Just as easily the artist is appreciated, with that ease only he’s written off too.

Artists in the same field seeing the glamour and the hype that gets created for the successful artist, to achieve the same try and ape him. In a race to achieve the same stature they compromise on their originality, their art form, their expression of the art in the need to ape the other artist to achieve success. This hype makes people push themselves in becoming and exploring things that are not their art form or of their potential.

The accreditation and felicitation that comes easily has led to the success and popularity of performing arts. It is no longer looked down upon as a means of livelihood and children are given encouragement and wings to fly and further nurture their interest and potential. It also has become a part of the over all development process in schools where performing arts are offered as extra-curricular activities to stimulate the creativity of a child. There are reality shows in all fields of arts to facilitate the talent of a person and give the recognition the person deserves.

Hence, even though there is no denying that Art is for real but the hype that’s created with the success sometimes mars the creativity
